Cocaine found in toddler's lunch box at Pennsylvania daycare

A daycare worker in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, discovered cocaine in a toddler's lunch box on May 28. The parents now face drug and child endangerment charges following a police raid.

A worker at Little Dreams Daycare found a small clear bag containing a white powdered substance inside the side pocket of the child's lunch box. Staff called police after suspecting the item was drugs, and testing confirmed it was cocaine. Emily Arter, 30, and Joel Rodriguez-Melendez, 31, were arrested after officers raided their home on June 1. Police recovered cocaine, marijuana and other substances from a pink safe, along with packaging materials. The couple faces charges including conspiracy to manufacture with intent to deliver and endangering the welfare of children. They were taken to York County Prison on $50,000 bond and have a court date scheduled for June 29. Four children under age 10 were present during the search and were placed with responsible adults.
