Defending champion Bryson DeChambeau shot a five-under 65 to share the lead after the first round of LIV Golf Korea at Asiad Country Club in Busan on Thursday.

DeChambeau made five birdies on the front nine and added two more on the back, offset by two bogeys. He is tied atop the leaderboard with Charles Howell III and Scott Vincent.

South Korean players also performed well. Song Young-han and Mun Do-yeob carded two-under 68s to sit in a tie for 11th, while captain An Byeong-hun shot even par and Kim Min-kyu finished one-over. Korean Golf Club stands tied for fifth in the team standings at three-under.

Away from the course, DeChambeau said he has been enjoying local culture. "A lot of Korean barbecue. It's my favorite," he said. "I got some new skincare stuff from Olive Young." The tournament is taking place amid uncertainty over LIV Golf's future following the withdrawal of Saudi funding.
