Singapore Premier League side FC Jurong announced on Friday that former Japan and AC Milan star Keisuke Honda has signed to play for them next season at age 39.

Honda, who most recently played two games and scored two goals for Bhutan's Paro FC in the 2024/25 season, said in a statement he is "pursuing several personal challenges", including scoring in more domestic top leagues than anyone else. "However, my primary goal with this club is to win the league title," he added. "There are a couple of very strong rivals, so it will be a tough challenge, but I am determined to achieve it."

FC Jurong, formerly Albirex Niigata Singapore, stated that signing Honda "goes beyond the signing of a single player". Chairman Daisuke Korenaga said: "To build a great castle, you need a solid cornerstone. Into that cornerstone, we pour world-class experience, vision, and passion. Together with Keisuke Honda, we are determined to build a legacy that will carry this club forward for the next 100 years."

Honda earned 98 caps and 38 goals for Japan before retiring from international duty after the 2018 World Cup. He has played for clubs in Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, Italy, Mexico, Australia, Brazil and Azerbaijan, as well as Lithuania's FK Suduva in 2021.
