Man charged with murdering estranged partner and her young son in Minnesota

Irving Van Marsaw faces two counts of second-degree murder after allegedly killing his estranged partner Jennifer Sue Marsaw and her 5-year-old son Marzai Andrew Dawson in Lexington, Minnesota. The incident followed an argument where the victim threatened to take him to trial. Police arrested Marsaw nearby after the shooting.

Irving Van Marsaw, 53, is accused of shooting Jennifer Sue Marsaw, 44, and her son Marzai Andrew Dawson, 5, at their home on the 9300 block of Ryan Place in Lexington, Minnesota. He is held on $5 million bail and charged with two counts of second-degree murder. The victims died from gunshot wounds fired at contact range, according to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office: Jennifer to the chest, and Marzai to the back. Spent bullets and an unspent round were found near the bodies, along with a 9 mm handgun later recovered across the street from the residence. A 9 mm handgun was found several hours later across the street behind the residence. While in custody, Marsaw made statements insinuating the act was committed 'in the heat of passion.'
