Miho Takagi shares women's all-around lead at speedskating worlds

The all-around competition at the Speed Skating World Championships got underway at the Thialf arena. This event demands a mix of explosive speed and endurance, with women racing 500, 3,000, 1,500, and 5,000 meters, and men competing in 500, 5,000, 1,500, and 10,000 meters.

Miho Takagi opened the final chapter of her illustrious career by winning the women's 500 meters in 37.75 seconds, setting the early pace alongside Ragne Wiklund. In the men's field, Jordan Stolz seized control of the competition.

The previous day, Jenning de Boo and Femke Kok swept the sprint titles for the Netherlands, sending the iconic arena into raptures. With that, attention has shifted to the all-around specialists, where Takagi's performance hints at a fitting farewell.
