Nick Cave zollt Shane MacGowan bei Konzert in Irland Tribut

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds spielten am Mittwoch während eines Konzerts im Malahide Castle & Gardens in Irland den Pogues-Song "A Rainy Night in Soho" als Tribut an den verstorbenen Shane MacGowan.

Cave, der eine enge Freundschaft mit MacGowan pflegte, sang das Stück, während er Klavier spielte. Seine Darbietung war von einem Zittern in der Stimme während der nostalgischen Liedzeilen geprägt. Geiger Warren Ellis steuerte ein gefühlvolles Solo bei.

Nach dem Ende bemerkte Cave mit einem Schmunzeln: "Wow, alles klar". Der Auftritt diente als Nachruf auf MacGowan, der 2023 verstarb.

Das Set enthielt zudem die erste Darbietung von "Train Long-Suffering" seit 1989 und von "Stranger Than Kindness" seit 2015. Andere Künstler haben den Song der Pogues in den letzten Jahren ebenfalls gecovert, darunter U2 im Jahr 2023 sowie Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band auf einem kommenden Tribut-Album.

English indie rock band Wet Leg served as the musical guest on the March 21 debut of Saturday Night Live UK, hosted by Tina Fey. The band played two tracks from their sophomore album Moisturizer. The episode aired on Sky in the UK and became available on Peacock in the US.

A career-spanning anthology of recordings by Conway Savage, the late pianist for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, has been announced for release on July 17. Titled 'Too Dark To See: Solo & Collaborative Recordings 1992-2010', the collection was curated with input from bandmate Mick Harvey. It features 24 tracks from Savage's solo and collaborative work.
