Nine victims identified in Los Gallardos wildfire

Authorities have identified nine of the thirteen people killed in the Los Gallardos wildfire in Almería. They include citizens from the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, the United States and Spain.

The court in Vera has confirmed the identities of nine victims of the wildfire in Los Gallardos. They are three Britons, three Belgians, one French citizen, one American and one Spaniard. One of the deceased is a 93-year-old British woman who died on Sunday afternoon at Hospital Universitario Torrecárdenas.

Among the victims is Stanislas Verdonckt, a 63-year-old Belgian businessman living in Bédar. His son Thomas-Wolf stated that he spoke with him by phone minutes before the tragedy and that his father informed him the fire was approaching the house.

The identification process continues with the assistance of consular authorities from Belgium, the United Kingdom and France. So far ten missing-person reports have been filed in connection with the wildfire.
