North Korea Vietnam discuss public security cooperation

Security ministers from North Korea and Vietnam met in Pyongyang to discuss expanding cooperation on public security and law enforcement.

North Korean Public Security Minister Pang Tu-sop met his Vietnamese counterpart Luong Tam Quang on Sunday. The two exchanged successes and experience in law enforcement and discussed expanding bilateral exchange and cooperation according to the Korean Central News Agency.

The Vietnamese delegation arrived in Pyongyang on Saturday. This is the latest in a string of Hanoi officials traveling to North Korea.

Last month Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung visited Pyongyang following an October summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Vietnamese President To Lam.

North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui held talks with Vietnamese counterpart Le Hoai Trung in Pyongyang and agreed to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

North Korea's Public Security Minister Pang Tu-sop and Russia's Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev held talks in Pyongyang on boosting law enforcement exchanges. According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the two sides shared experiences and signed a 2026-2027 roadmap for delegation visits. The meeting occurs amid deepening ties following North Korea's troop deployment to support Russia's war in Ukraine.
