Drag City wird am 31. Juli ein neues posthumes Album des verstorbenen Folk-Sängers und Künstlers Ed Askew veröffentlichen. The Final Painting basiert auf Demos, die zwischen 2020 und seinem Tod im Januar 2025 aufgenommen wurden.

Das Album wurde von Jerry David DeCicca produziert, der bereits 2013 an Askews Veröffentlichung For the World mitgearbeitet hatte. Es enthält Beiträge verschiedener Musiker: Sharon Van Etten steuert Begleitgesang für den Titel Gray Air-o-Plane bei, während Bill Callahan auf Someone zu hören ist. Auch William Tyler und Eve Searls sind auf der Platte vertreten.
