Risk of showers threatens Midsummer celebrations

Meteorologists warn that a low-pressure system could bring showers to Midsummer celebrations. Warmer weather is still expected across much of the country.

The forecast for Midsummer 2026 shows a risk of rain showers in several areas. A low-pressure system over northeastern Norrland is moving slowly and could affect celebrations on Midsummer Eve.

Meteorologist Lasse Rydqvist notes that showers may become an uninvited guest at the herring lunch in Norrland and northern Svealand. At the same time high pressure is expected to dominate with temperatures up to 26-27 degrees in southern and eastern parts.

Lovisa Andersson from SMHI confirms that warmer air is moving in during the week. Cloud cover is however increasing compared with earlier forecasts.
