Roca Rey stable overnight in ICU after serious La Maestranza goring

Bullfighter Andrés Roca Rey spent the night in the ICU at Seville's Viamed-Santa Ángela de la Cruz hospital following his serious goring the previous day at La Maestranza. His manager confirmed he rested without fever, though in pain. This comes after emergency surgery in the arena, as detailed in our prior coverage.

Following the severe goring to his right thigh by the fifth bull during Thursday's bullfight at La Maestranza—as covered in 'Roca Rey suffers very serious goring at Seville's Maestranza'—Roca Rey was transferred to Viamed-Santa Ángela de la Cruz hospital for monitoring.

His manager, Luisma Lozano, updated Mundotoro that Roca Rey 'rested and had no fever,' describing him as 'calm but in pain.' Dr. Octavio Mulet, who led the arena surgery, plans a thorough review on Friday.

Notably, the same hospital and medical team treated Morante de la Puebla, gored three days earlier at the same venue. Morante requested voluntary discharge to recover at home, with no set timeline.
