Senator Rodante Marcoleta is facing a plunder complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman over questions on his campaign donations. The complaint remains at the initial stage as the Ombudsman conducts further investigation.
The complaint alleges plunder and violations of Presidential Decree No. 46. It stems from Marcoleta declaring a net worth of P51 million in 2025 while spending P112 million on his senatorial campaign without initial declared contributions.
Marcoleta later confirmed receiving P75 million in donations before the campaign period started. He did not include the amount in his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures, stating he was not yet a candidate at the time.
The Commission on Elections cleared him of any poll rule violations in March. The Ombudsman will decide whether to file charges before the Sandiganbayan.
