Gareth Damian Martin, known for Citizen Sleeper, has announced a new role-playing game called Signet City. The title casts players as a fungal parasite navigating a decaying urban environment.
The game is described as fungalpunk and draws from the social and economic turbulence of 1980s Britain. Northern industrial cities provide visual and thematic inspiration for the monochrome setting filled with mushrooms and strange technologies. Players move through the social fabric of the city as a parasite, influencing inhabitants and altering their stories. The approach focuses on the interior lives of hosts through detailed prose. Martin collaborates with new team members for this project. Eli Rainsberry composes the soundtrack while Tom Kitchen contributes to environmental art. The soundtrack incorporates post-punk elements from the band SPRINTS. Signet City is scheduled to launch on PC via Steam later this year. Other platforms remain unconfirmed at this stage.
