Storm from Norway and Denmark hits Sweden

A low-pressure system with showers and thunder has moved into parts of Sweden on Friday evening.

In Dalarna traffic has been heavily affected. In the Gagnef area vehicles came to a standstill and trains suffered power failures while trees fell across roads. On National Road 70 in Djurås a head-on collision between two cars occurred at 5 p.m. involving four people.

SMHI meteorologist Catharina Wahlström confirmed the storm arrived from southern Norway via Värmland. She described it as a minor low-pressure system with scattered showers.

In Skåne heavy rain from Denmark has caused flooding in Perstorp. Water entered homes and railway underpasses, and cars became stuck in the water on roads.

The weather is expected to bring lower temperatures and more precipitation across large parts of the country on Saturday.
