Hyderabad erlebte am Abend des Sonntags, dem 19. April, in mehreren Teilen der Stadt einen plötzlichen, mäßigen Regenschauer, der von Hagel und starken Winden begleitet wurde. Das Wetter traf Bewohner und Pendler völlig unvorbereitet. Nach 16 Uhr wandelte sich der klare Himmel schnell in eine dichte Wolkendecke, gefolgt von Donner und böigem Wind. Der unerwartete Wolkenbruch veranlasste Pendler dazu, hektisch Schutz zu suchen. Autofahrer hielten an Bushaltestellen und unter Metrostationen, um dem Regen und Hagel zu entgehen. Die Regenfälle brachten den Bewohnern nach einer Woche mit extremen Höchsttemperaturen die ersehnte Abkühlung.
