'The King's Warden' surpasses 11 million admissions in record time

The Korean historical film 'The King's Warden' has surpassed 11 million viewers on its 33rd day of release, just two days after hitting 10 million. Distributor Showbox reported a cumulative 11.17 million admissions as of March 8, 2026, following its February 4 debut.

Building on its earlier milestones—including topping 8 million on March 1—the film reached 11 million faster than recent hits like 'Exhuma' (2024), '12.12: The Day' (2023), and 'Masquerade' (2012). On its 33rd day, it drew about 754,000 viewers on Saturday alone.

Directed by Jang Hang-jun, the film stars Yoo Hai-jin as village chief Eom Heung-do and Park Ji-hoon as the deposed King Danjong, depicting their friendship during the king's exile. It has garnered acclaim for ensemble performances and vivid portrayal of the exile setting.
