The United Democratic Alliance (Uda) has announced repeat grassroots elections in parts of four counties due to unresolved issues from earlier party polls. The exercise is set for today, January 11, 2026, and will involve only polling centre delegates. This step aims to strengthen the party's grassroots leadership structures.
In a notice dated January 10, 2026, the United Democratic Alliance's National Elections Board announced repeat grassroots elections in parts of Samburu, Nyeri, Laikipia, and Baringo counties following unresolved issues in prior party polls. The voting will occur today, Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at designated polling centres, limited to polling centre delegates only.
Specific locations include: In Samburu North Constituency, Ndoto Ward at Harsim Primary School and Nyiro Ward at Losirukoi Nursery. In Nyeri Town Constituency, Kiganjo/Mathari Ward at Mathari Nursery and Kamwaki/Mukaro Ward at Kanoga Primary School. In Laikipia East Constituency's Nanyuki Ward, the polling centre is Nturukuma Kenya Fibre. In Baringo County's Tiaty Constituency, Churo/Amaya Ward at Kadia Center, Kolowa Ward at Ayeleion Dam, and Tirioko Ward at Ngeleya Primary School.
The party did not specify the reasons for the reruns but urged all affected members to comply. The notice was signed by Uda National Elections Board Chairperson Anthony Mwaura as the party works to finalize its grassroots structures.
This follows the activation of the party's Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee, which opened a process on January 9, 2026, to handle disputes from Phase III grassroots elections and by-election nominations. Disputes must be filed within 24 hours of results via the party's official email.
