Ultraviolette launches X-47 Crossover electric motorcycle with Battery Flex subscription, slashing upfront cost by 40%

Indian startup Ultraviolette Automotive has unveiled the X-47 Crossover electric adventure motorcycle with a Battery Flex Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, developed with Ecofy. This reduces the chassis price to Rs 1.49 lakh ex-showroom (from Rs 2.49 lakh), with subscriptions from Rs 2,499 per month, making premium electric mobility more accessible versus ICE rivals.

Ultraviolette unveiled the X-47 Crossover on March 6, 2026, targeting premium riders. Previously priced at Rs 2.49 lakh with full battery ownership, the new Battery Flex BaaS drops the chassis to Rs 1.49 lakh—a 40% cut—separating battery costs. Subscriptions start at Rs 2,499/month for 1,000 km (extra km Rs 2.5–4.8), with ownership transferring free at term end and a 5-year warranty.

Battery options: 7.1 kWh (211 km range) or 10.3 kWh (323 km). The 203 kg bike has a 40.2 bhp peak (39.65 bhp rated) motor, 100 Nm torque, 0–100 kmph in 2.7 seconds, and 145 kmph top speed.

Key feature: UV HyperSense radar-based ADAS (industry-first), offering blind-spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear collision warnings (200m range). This pits it against 400cc petrol bikes on performance, safety, and software.

CEO Narayan Subramaniam said: "At ₹2.5 lakh, Ultraviolette was at price parity with similarly powered ICE motorcycles. Now, with a starting price of ₹1.5 lakh, riders gain access to better technology, features, and performance that outpaces every segment. With operating costs as low as ₹2499 per month, which is lesser than the average spends on petrol, we are redefining what affordability means in motorcycling."
