Water problems hit mountain station in Grövelsjön during peak season

The mountain station in Grövelsjön is struggling with water problems during July, the month with the most visitors. Boiling recommendations are in place and water will be shut off completely this week for pipe flushing.

The municipal company Nodava introduced boiling recommendations a month ago after tests showed elevated values and indicated bacteria in the water.

STF site manager Ewa Majling says July is the month with the most visitors. The mountain station, other entrepreneurs and Älvdalens municipality have arranged temporary toilets while Nodava has set up extra drinking water tanks.

On weekends staff fetch water from another source in Storsätern because Nodava does not refill then. A meeting between Älvdalens municipality, Nodava and entrepreneurs will be held in the autumn to discuss the situation.

The entrepreneurs are not satisfied with the municipality’s actions while Nodava says the entrepreneurs also have their own responsibility.
