Beijing received 18.83 million tourist visits during the five-day May Day holiday, marking a 5.1 percent increase from the previous year. Total tourism revenue reached 22.36 billion yuan, up 6.6 percent year on year.
The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism released the figures on Tuesday.
Inbound tourist visits totaled 128,000, a 22.3 percent rise from last year. Inbound tourism spending reached 1.38 billion yuan, up 22.6 percent year on year.
During the holiday, the city organized more than 2,000 cultural and tourism activities, including artistic performances, scenic tours, and trendy fairs.
It also staged 1,684 sessions of 332 offline commercial performances, generating about 260 million yuan in box office revenue.
