Astros right fielder Cam Smith made a leaping catch to rob Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo of a home run and help secure a 5-1 victory on Thursday at Globe Life Field.
Smith, who had never robbed a home run before, tracked a fly ball off Nimmo’s bat at 94.1 mph and timed his jump to reach above the wall. The ball traveled a Statcast-projected 356 feet. Smith flipped the ball out of his glove after the catch, ending the first inning with the Astros leading 3-0.
