The Chancellor of Justice issues a decision today on compensation claims from PFAS-affected residents in Kallinge. The state denies compensation and cites the statute of limitations.
Members of the PFAS association have demanded compensation from the state for personal injuries and violations of human rights. They were affected after drinking water with high PFAS levels from Ronneby municipality's Brantafors waterworks until December 2013.
The water was contaminated by firefighting foam used by the Swedish Armed Forces during exercises at the Kallinge airfield. The foam contained PFAS that does not break down in nature.
The association previously won the right to compensation from Ronneby municipality in the Supreme Court. The Chancellor of Justice says no to state compensation citing the statute of limitations.
