Chief Minister launches Kochi Corporation’s third Ro-Ro vessel

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan inaugurated Sethusagar III, the third roll-on/roll-off vessel operated by Kochi Corporation, at Vypeen Ro-Ro jetty on July 12.

The Chief Minister urged women using the free travel scheme on Ro-Ro services to channel their savings into personal investments. He announced that the government plans to introduce a special ‘Pink Chitty’ scheme through the Kerala State Financial Enterprises to support this goal.

Mr. Satheesan said the new vessel would improve connectivity between West Kochi and the city. He added that renovation work at Fort Kochi Beach would begin soon and highlighted a sanctioned 190-MLD water treatment project to address drinking water shortages.

Several tourism projects including an oceanarium, a film city and a maritime museum are also planned, he said. Proposals to upgrade the city’s public transport have been submitted to the Union government. Kochi Mayor V.K. Minimol presided over the event.
