In the ongoing Hermosillo incident first reported on April 4, where four people died after receiving 'vitamin serums' at a homeopathic clinic, the toll has now climbed to at least six, according to Sonora's Attorney General's Office. Eight investigation files have been opened, and several others remain hospitalized.
Governor Alfonso Durazo announced his administration is actively seeking Jesús Maximiliano ‘N’, the doctor blamed for administering the mixtures, who is now a fugitive.
Building on earlier warnings, Doctor Alejandro Macías reiterated the severe risks of such non-medical intravenous treatments, including phlebitis, thrombosis, electrolyte imbalances, anaphylaxis, and sepsis—especially in non-sterile settings like spas or gyms. 'Intravenous therapy saves lives in medicine but is not risk-free and unnecessary for wellness boosts,' he emphasized.
Authorities continue to probe the lack of oversight in these procedures, linking back to the clinic search and victim analyses already conducted.
