Police are investigating a suspected serious crime in Norrköping's Marielund area following an alert just before 9 p.m. on Thursday evening. One person was injured and taken to hospital by ambulance. Reports to NT suggest a shooting, but police have not confirmed this.
Police were alerted just before 9 p.m. on Thursday evening to the western parts of Norrköping, specifically the Marielund area, due to a serious crime. Several police patrols were dispatched to the scene, and a police helicopter took part in the operation. A larger area was cordoned off while police gathered information, spoke to witnesses, and secured evidence.
One person was injured in the incident and taken to hospital by ambulance. The condition of the injured person is unknown, according to police spokesperson Angelica Forsberg. "There is no danger to the public", Forsberg told media outlets.
According to reports to Norrköpings Tidningar (NT), it involved a shooting in an urban setting, but police declined to comment on these details. "We have initiated an investigation. I cannot say more at this stage", Forsberg said around 11 p.m.
Police urge witnesses to contact them on 114 14, noting many people were out in the area that evening. No arrests have been confirmed in the early stages of the investigation.
