Great Britain's Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat defeated Italy 9-6 to claim the top position in the mixed doubles curling round-robin at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The United States edged Sweden 8-7 to take second place, while Italy and Sweden also advanced to the semifinals despite late losses. Canada was eliminated after a 9-5 defeat to South Korea.
The mixed doubles curling competition at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics reached its round-robin conclusion on February 8, with the top four teams securing semifinal berths. Britain, already qualified after seven straight wins, faced a stern test earlier in the day, losing 7-6 to Switzerland in a tight match where the Swiss scored two in the final end with the hammer. Despite the defeat, Dodds and Mouat bounced back in Draw 12 at the Cortina Olympic Curling Centre, leading 4-3 at the halfway mark before Italy responded with three points in the sixth end thanks to Amos Mosaner's precise shot-making. Britain then rallied, scoring four points in the final two ends amid cheers from home fans to win 9-6 and finish with eight wins from nine games.
On the adjacent sheet, the United States' Korey Dropkin and Cory Thiesse overcame Sweden's Isabella and Rasmus Wranaa 8-7. Sweden took an early lead, but Thiesse's three-pointer shifted momentum, giving the Americans a 6-4 advantage after the fourth end. The siblings leveled at 7-7, but a miss from Isabella handed the victory to the US, who placed second in the standings. Thiesse reflected, "We knew that this was our game to win, you know, they're a great team, but we knew we needed to bring our A game and did that today, so really proud of us. We're just thrilled to be here, to be playing in front of this crowd and to be playing in front of our friends and family and people back home watching. We're just trying to enjoy the moment and take it one rock at a time."
Italy held on for third despite the loss to Britain, while Sweden took fourth. Switzerland's 6-3 defeat to Norway earlier confirmed the playoff lineup. Canada, the 2018 Olympic champions, suffered a fifth consecutive loss, falling 9-5 to South Korea's Jeong Yeong-seok and Kim Seon-yeong, ending their medal hopes after starting with three wins. The semifinals are set for Monday evening, with medal matches on Tuesday.
