Ethiopia starts national dialogue conference for peace and shared prosperity

Ethiopia has launched its national dialogue conference in Addis Ababa to resolve differences through discussion. Officials from the African Union and IGAD voiced support for the process.

The conference that began on Hamle 9 2018 brought together participants from across Ethiopia in Addis Ababa. African Union Political Affairs Commissioner Ambassador Bankole Adeoye attended and said the process would serve as a good example for peacebuilding on the continent.

A participant from Gambella Region gave birth to a son during the event and named him Mekekir after the dialogue. Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie visited the mother and pledged continued support for her and the child.
