Falu IF prepares appeal after elite license denial

Falu IF has been denied an elite license for Hockeyettan due to an ongoing financial dispute with Falu municipality. The club now plans to appeal the decision while seeking a quick resolution.

The denial stems from a claim of just over 1.2 million kronor that Falu IF believes the municipality owes the club. This amount was included in the club's financial results, but the municipality has refused payment.

The conflict began last summer when the municipality withdrew operating support for Halltec Arena. Falu IF argues this created severe economic strain during the season and now seeks compensation for ten months of facility use. The municipality views around 200,000 kronor as a more appropriate figure.

New club chairman Linn Axelsson Hågevall is leading talks with officials. Both sides have expressed willingness to resolve the matter promptly to support the appeal.

Forshaga IF also had its elite license denied for economic reasons.
