Estas publicaciones aludían a Israel en el marco del análisis sobre el foco de la política exterior de Chile: la primera en referencia a los principios y la segunda a los intereses. Lewi señala que Israel y Chile comparten principios que no son la norma en Medio Oriente, como democracia, respeto a los derechos humanos, diversidad social y religiosa, libertad de opinión y prensa, equidad de género, y reconocimiento a las diversidades sexuales. De lado de los intereses, ambos países procuran el bienestar de sus pueblos frente a desafíos globales, tales como la escasez hídrica, seguridad alimentaria, protección del medio ambiente, transferencia tecnológica, ciudades inteligentes y seguridad ciudadana, etc. “Así las cosas, acogemos con entusiasmo la normalización de las relaciones diplomáticas en todos los ámbitos, ya que esto resulta totalmente plausible, productivo y coherente”, afirma Lewi.
