Kenyan leaders urge peace, unity for Christmas

Prominent Kenyan leaders, including President William Ruto, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and ODM's Dr. Oburu Oginga, have delivered Christmas greetings to the nation, urging Kenyans to embrace peace, love, and road safety during the festive season.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, has urged Kenyans to reflect and embrace peace and love during Christmas celebrations. Noting that this Christmas reminds him that true light does not announce its coming but guides quietly, he added: “It is a time for good reflection, for shining, with humility and embracing love and peace.” Wetang’ula emphasized that the nation should embrace the essence of Christmas, a time filled with love and gratitude. “In choosing humility, love gains meaning; in embracing silence, the soul discovers peace. I welcome this holy season with gratitude and hope,” he said. He encouraged Kenyans to protect each other and remain vigilant in public spaces, uniting as one big family while celebrating Christmas and the New Year.

President William Ruto, in a video circulating online, thanked Kenyans for God's love as they complete the year. “Kenyans 2025, we are finishing and I wish you a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year 2026. On the roads, drive carefully and avoid breaking the law,” he said. Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, marking his birthday on December 24, urged Kenyans to remember the vulnerable, families mourning road accident victims, Gen Z who lost lives, and victims of Trans Mara clashes. Dr. Oburu Oginga, who will celebrate Christmas at home in Bondo, called for unity and nation-building. This is the first Christmas without ODM leader Raila Odinga, who previously attended services with Oginga at ACK Nyamira Church in Bondo.
