KMTC launches eLearning programme for emergency response training

The Kenya Medical Training College has launched a new eLearning programme to improve coordination among emergency responders. The initiative partners with the Ministry of Health, National Disaster Management Unit and the British High Commission. It draws on principles from the United Kingdom's Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles adapted for Kenya.

The Kenya Multi-Agency Interoperability Awareness eLearning Programme was launched on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in Nairobi. It equips medical providers and students with shared principles and practical skills for coherent emergency responses.

The programme is open to KMTC students as well as non-students across medical categories. It builds on an existing Emergency Medical Technician course offered on the eLearning platform.

KMTC stated that the content adapts the United Kingdom's Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles to Kenya's context. This covers areas including policing, pre-hospital care and multi-agency emergency preparedness.

The college has separately trained boda boda riders in basic first aid to support quicker initial responses at accident scenes.
