Mario Kart World update adds new routes and item tweaks

Nintendo released version 1.7.0 for Mario Kart World on June 30, 2026. The patch introduces two new Knockout Tour routes and expands Photo Mode with stickers.

The update brings Drill Rally, running between Wario Shipyard and Bowser’s Castle, and Boomerang Rally, connecting Salty Salty Speedway and Whistlestop Summit. These additions raise the total number of Knockout Tour routes to 10.

Players have also noticed an unlisted change to item distribution. For the first 20 seconds of races, those in first place now receive stronger power-ups such as Triple Mushrooms and the Boo.

Other adjustments include improved acceleration for low-acceleration characters and vehicles, faster gliding speeds for select characters, and a new ramp on the Airship Fortress to Bowser’s Castle route. Numerous bugs were fixed as well.

Nintendo stated that more Knockout Tour routes are planned for future updates.
