Metric lanza Romanticize the Dive tras grabar en Electric Lady

La banda canadiense Metric lanzó su nuevo álbum Romanticize the Dive el 24 de abril, grabado en los estudios Electric Lady de Nueva York. Metric, originaria de Toronto y formada por James Shaw, Emily Haines, Joshua Winstead y Joules Scott-Key, publicó Romanticize the Dive vía Thirty Tigers. El grupo trabajó con el mismo productor y mezclador de Fantasies (2009) y Synthetica (2012) para revivir esa etapa.

"Queríamos recuperar esa sensación de libertad", dijo Shaw a Culto de La Tercera. Recordó una experiencia en Electric Lady, fundado por Jimi Hendrix en 1970: salió a caminar y oyó tres singles de Metric en un bar, lo que le recordó su sonido auténtico. "Es como si el edificio fuera mi suero de la verdad", agregó sobre el estudio.

El proceso creativo mantuvo su método habitual: Haines llega con ideas en celular o iPad, o Shaw compone instrumentales primero. En As If You’re Here, ella cantó la toma final de una vez. La portada muestra solo a Haines con una polera y cinta adhesiva, simbolizando su esencia.

Shaw evita leer críticas: "Si a ti no te hace feliz, no pasa nada". El álbum ha recibido elogios como lo mejor en años. Planean gira con posible vuelta a Sudamérica, según conversaciones con Stars y Broken Social Scene.
