Madre de Carolina del Norte sentenciada tras declararse culpable por la muerte de sus hijos

Brandi Sturdivant admitió su responsabilidad por un incendio doméstico ocurrido en 2022 que acabó con la vida de sus tres hijos pequeños. Esta semana, un juez condenó a la mujer de 32 años a una pena de entre 30 y 36 años de prisión.

Sturdivant se declaró culpable de tres cargos de asesinato en segundo grado en Greensboro. La declaración se produjo casi cuatro años después del incendio de diciembre de 2022 en su hogar en Grimsley Street.

Ella había dejado a sus gemelos de 1 año y a su hijo de 4 años solos en la casa. Sturdivant declaró a la policía que encendió la estufa de la sala para calentar la vivienda antes de salir.

Los vecinos llamaron al 911 tras descubrir el incendio. Los servicios de emergencia encontraron a los niños en el interior y las autopsias revelaron más tarde que fallecieron por inhalación de humo y envenenamiento por monóxido de carbono.

Los investigadores determinaron que la estufa no fue la causa del incendio. El origen exacto sigue siendo desconocido, aunque se encontró un bidón de gasolina en el porche delantero.
