ODM backs proposal for Raila Odinga monument in Nairobi

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has backed a proposal to erect a monument to Raila Amollo Odinga at the Supreme Court roundabout in Nairobi.

The motion was tabled by Nairobi West MCA Rex Omolleh in the Nairobi County Assembly. It was initially aimed at Uhuru Park but has now been amended to the Supreme Court roundabout.

The proposed structure features a copper-themed sculpted figure of Odinga on a raised platform. Below it will be his name with the years 1945-2025 along with the words "A Tribute to Democracy" and one of his well-known quotes.

ODM stated that Odinga fought for greater democratic space and good governance over many years. The party called on Kenyans to support the move to recognise his contributions.
