Political leaders warned against delaying move to opposition

Political leaders in Kenya have received stern warnings against delaying their switch to the opposition as the 2027 general election approaches.

Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya said on Thursday that leaders in the Western region should either stay in government or join the opposition early instead of waiting until the last minute.

He stressed that citizens are suffering due to tough economic conditions while some leaders continue to benefit from the government.

Former nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba issued a similar warning in the Gusii region, urging Abagusii community leaders to join the opposition by May 25 to support Fred Matiang’i.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also said the door to join his Democracy for the Citizens Party will not remain open forever.
