Rémi Poirier named AHL Goaltender of the Month for March

The American Hockey League has selected Rémi Poirier of the Texas Stars as the AHL Goaltender of the Month for March. Poirier recorded seven wins in nine decisions, with a 2.27 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage.

From Springfield, Massachusetts, the league announced the honour on Wednesday. Poirier faced an average of 33.8 shots per game during the month. He secured consecutive victories at Chicago, making 28 saves on March 7 and adding 26 stops in relief for a shootout win on March 8. Against Bakersfield, he allowed just two goals in a loss on March 13 and followed with 37 saves in a near-shutout on March 14. Poirier capped March with 40-plus saves in three of his final four starts, including a career-high-tying 43 stops in a 2-1 win at San Jose on March 31. This season, the 24-year-old from Farnham, Quebec, holds a 23-17-4 record, a 2.62 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage and two shutouts for the Stars. He ties for the league lead with 44 appearances and leads with 1,161 saves. A sixth-round pick by Dallas in the 2020 NHL Draft, Poirier has a career AHL mark of 66-49-12 with a 2.78 goals-against average, .908 save percentage and six shutouts over 129 games.
