Suspect in Lyhanna abduction faced prior rape complaint

Jérôme B., charged with abducting the 11-year-old schoolgirl in the Gers, was the subject of an August 2025 complaint for raping a 10-year-old girl.

Toulouse prosecutor David Charmatz said Tuesday that the complaint was filed on 22 August 2025 at the Plaisance-du-Touch gendarmerie. The alleged incidents occurred in Montastruc-sur-Gers and the case was transferred to the Auch prosecutor’s office in early November 2025.

Auch prosecutor Clémence Meyer confirmed the file reached her office in December 2025 and was sent to the gendarmerie in January 2026. Investigations remain ongoing.

Jérôme B., 41, was charged with abduction and sequestration after being last seen with Lyhanna on Friday around 3 p.m. outside the Fleurance collège. He claims he dropped her at the municipal pool, but investigators deemed his statements inconsistent.

One of the suspect’s lawyers stressed that her client is presumed innocent and has never been interviewed regarding the earlier complaint.
