Tyler Vesel joins AIK from Brynäs on multi-year deal

American center Tyler Vesel has signed with AIK after three seasons with Brynäs. The 32-year-old forward agreed to a contract through the 2027/28 season. AIK views him as a key addition to their offense ahead of next season.

AIK announced the signing of Tyler Vesel, who brings extensive experience from Hockeyallsvenskan and SHL. Vesel tallied 204 points in 235 regular-season and playoff games in Hockeyallsvenskan, plus 167 SHL appearances. He previously helped HV71 and Brynäs earn promotion to SHL, contributing 46 points in the 2022 regular season for HV71 and 36 points in 44 games for Brynäs before their ascent. After two seasons as Brynäs' fourth-line center, Vesel now aims to bolster AIK's push for promotion from Stockholm. Vesel expressed enthusiasm about the move. “It feels fantastic to be part of AIK. I feel like this team will do something special this season,” he said. “My family and I are very happy about this opportunity. I look forward to the games in front of the passionate AIK fans. It will be an amazing journey!” Sportchef Lasse Johansson praised the acquisition. “We are very happy to get Tyler with us here in AIK and look forward to seeing him in our environment. We see a player who can contribute both offensively and in the hard work across the entire rink, and he also brings important experience to the group,” Johansson stated. The signing follows AIK's quarterfinal exit to Modo this season, their first semifinal appearance since the 2025 final. Other moves include defensemen Samuel Jonsson and Olli Vainio, with hopes persisting for forward Robin Kovacs despite paused talks.
