Vimmerby Hockey enters its third season in HockeyAllsvenskan this fall after making changes to its roster and coaching staff. Coach Eric Karlsson said the team will build on its defensive strengths while improving offensively.
Vimmerby has added assistant coach William Lindgren and goaltending coach Amanda Johansson. Lindgren previously worked with Karlsson in Västerås, while Johansson will support young goalie Isak Sörqvist, who joins on loan from Luleå.
Tomas Rydén returns to the club after five seasons away. Jakob Karlsson has retired after 525 games for Vimmerby. Karlsson said the team seeks players who show heart and commitment to the club.
The coach noted that Vimmerby cannot compete financially with larger teams. Instead it will rely on passion and unity among players and staff to succeed in the upcoming season.
