Hockey Canada ilmoitti tiistaina, että hyökkääjät Porter Martone ja Dawson Mercer liittyvät maajoukkueeseen ennen perjantain MM-avausottelua Ruotsia vastaan.

Philadelphia Flyersin vuoden 2025 NHL:n varaustilaisuudessa kuudentena varaama 19-vuotias Martone teki vaikutuksen ensimmäisissä yhdeksässä runkosarjaottelussaan keräämällä kymmenen tehopistettä. Hän esiintyi aiemmin kahdessa ottelussa Kanadan paidassa viime vuoden turnauksessa Tukholmassa, mutta sai tuolloin rajallisesti peliaikaa. Mercer tuo mukanaan kokemusta vuoden 2022 ja 2024 MM-kisoista, ja hän kirjautti tällä kaudella 82 ottelussa 42 tehopistettä New Jersey Devilsin riveissä.
