ESSA marks 135 years with record revenues and historic investment in Santander

The Electrificadora de Santander, ESSA, reported operational revenues of 2.25 trillion pesos and an investment of 300 billion pesos in electrical infrastructure during its 135th anniversary.

The subsidiary of Grupo EPM reached position 107 in the national ranking of the Thousand Largest Companies by the Superintendencia de Sociedades. This marks an advance of eight positions from the previous year and establishes it as the regional leader above other firms in eastern Colombia.

Guillermo Valencia, ESSA manager, detailed that the funds will go toward network expansion, new substations and the launch of the first four photovoltaic farms in San Martín. Key projects include the Yariguíes substation in Barrancabermeja and upgrades to the Real de Minas substation in Bucaramanga.

The company faces rising energy demand due to the El Niño phenomenon. Additional consumption of 18 GWh was recorded in May in the residential segment. Despite the tariff increase for stratum 4, the first quarter closed with an EBITDA of 160.197 billion pesos and net profits of 58.677 billion pesos.
