Actor Jeffrey Combs has shared his view that the Star Trek villain Weyoun was not evil. Combs played the character on Deep Space Nine. He explained his approach in recent interviews.
Jeffrey Combs portrayed Weyoun, a Vorta diplomat and antagonist on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In comments to Star Trek Monthly via Memory Alpha, Combs said he did not view the character as evil. I didn't think of Weyoun as evil, I think that's a mistake, Combs explained. It's always best to play them as if everything they do is justified. He added that he played Weyoun as someone who prided himself on eloquence and skill at manipulation. Combs described building the role from instinct during his first day of shooting. He noted that Weyoun aimed to appear as a helpful friend. Weyoun is your best friend. He really is, and he wants you to know that, Combs told StarTrek.com. There's really nothing to worry about, until the knife is in your back.
