A judge in Veracruz declared Marlon N guilty of the feminicide of Monserrat Bendimes Roldán five years after the crime. The sentence will be set at a hearing on July 16.
During a hearing held this Thursday in the city of Veracruz, the judge determined that Marlon N is guilty of the feminicide. Family lawyer Ramar Mendoza Díaz explained that the penalty could range from 40 to 70 years in prison plus damage reparation.
The victim's mother, Cecilia Roldán, stated that the ruling represents justice for her daughter. She noted that they never sought revenge, only that Monserrat could rest in peace.
The events occurred on April 17, 2021, when Marlon N repeatedly beat Monserrat. He took her to a hospital without proper medical care and she died days later. Marlon fled with help from his parents.
