Alex Shelley of the Motor City Machine Guns shared his thoughts on their current position in WWE's tag team division during an interview. The team recently secured a victory over Fraxiom on the March 20 episode of WWE SmackDown, their first tag win since October 2025. Shelley expressed hope that continued success will lead to a title opportunity.
The Motor City Machine Guns, consisting of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, defeated Fraxiom—Nathan Frazer and Axiom—on WWE SmackDown on March 20. This marked their first tag team victory since October 2025, as first reported by Fightful. Speaking to Mark Hoke about future title challenges, Shelley highlighted the competitive hierarchy in the division. “I feel like there is a pecking order to these things. You do have to go through teams to get to the champions, and right now we’re kind of stuck, as it were. We did beat Fraxiom a few weeks ago, so hopefully that can instill some momentum. We can’t make those decisions. We can only do the best with the opportunities we get, right? As we beat more and more people, I assume we’ll get a title shot as some point. That’s usually how it works,” Shelley said. The duo won the WWE Tag Team Titles shortly after joining the company but has not held them since. Currently, Damian Priest and R-Truth hold the titles.
