The Houston Astros beat the Cleveland Guardians 2-1 on Sunday at Daikin Park. Right-hander Kai-Wei Teng allowed one run over six innings to help secure the win. The victory marked Houston's third straight series win.
Teng limited the Guardians to four hits while striking out four. He walked just one batter after earlier control issues this season.
Yordan Alvarez hit his 25th home run of the year in the first inning. Isaac Paredes added an RBI single during a three-hit game.
Manager Joe Espada praised catcher Christian Vázquez for guiding Teng's pitch selection. The bullpen trio of Steven Okert, Bryan King and Josh Hader retired nine of ten batters faced.
Hader earned his fifth save of the season by closing out the ninth inning. The Astros have now won three consecutive series for the first time in 2026.
