Steven Rosenbaum has admitted that AI tools introduced a handful of synthetic quotes into his new book on truth and reality. The errors surfaced in a recent New York Times investigation. Rosenbaum said he is now more cautious but plans to continue relying on the technology.
Rosenbaum's book, The Future of Truth: How AI Reshapes Reality, discusses how artificial intelligence bends facts. Of its 285 citations, six have been flagged as problematic, including three synthetic quotes with no clear source. One quote attributed to tech reporter Kara Swisher was denied by her, while another linked to professor Lisa Feldman Barrett was called inaccurate and nonexistent in her work.
