Around 20 employees in Borlänge municipality's home care service receive paid driver's licenses. The initiative aims to enable more efficient work and retain staff.
Borlänge municipality offers around 20 home care employees the chance to obtain a driver's license in their free time at no personal cost. The package is valued at 20,000 kronor per person.
Operations manager Mikael Sehlberg states that recruitment is hampered because many applicants lack a driver's license. Outside urban areas, a car becomes especially important.
The Omställningsfonden funds the training. About 10 people have already started. Assistant nurses and care assistants form the main target groups.
One participant, Alexander Hedström, aged 31, hopes the measure will attract more people to the profession.
