Bryson DeChambeau addressed reporters after the first round of the LIV Golf UK event, discussing his recent Open Championship experience for the first time.
DeChambeau carded an eight-under-par round at JCB Country Club, birdieing his first three holes. He described the performance as strong despite two bogeys.
The golfer reflected on a two-stroke penalty assessed at the Open Championship for improving conditions around his ball on the fifth hole. He finished tied for 14th after a triple bogey there and another on the 11th hole Sunday, six shots behind winner Ryan Fox.
DeChambeau said he made the cut and called it a good fight, noting he wished he had performed better on the weekend. He added that moments of adversity occur in everyone's life and that it is now time to move past the incident.
Lucas Herbert leads the LIV event after one round. DeChambeau said he looks forward to competing against him and aims to win the tournament with his team, the Crushers.
