Casey Mize and Javier Báez of the Detroit Tigers left their game against the Atlanta Braves early due to injuries on Tuesday night in Atlanta. Mize departed in the third inning with right groin tightness, while Báez was carted off in the fifth after hurting his right ankle. The Braves took a 2-0 lead by that point.
In the bottom of the third inning at Truist Park, Tigers starter Casey Mize allowed an RBI double to Ronald Acuña Jr., putting Atlanta ahead 1-0. Drake Baldwin then hit a slow chopper up the first-base line on an 86.1 mph splitter from Mize. Mize fielded the ball and threw to first but showed immediate discomfort, leading to a visit from the training staff. He was removed with right groin tightness, having pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing three hits, two runs, one walk, and three strikeouts on 34 pitches. Reliever Brant Hurter entered and gave up a sacrifice fly that scored Acuña, extending the Braves' lead to 2-0.
